We have modified the PLD learning plans to include&nbsp; weekly&nbsp; updates which parents can access instantly without having to receive a separate email every month. We encourage&nbsp; our PLD parents to put their comments on these new learning&nbsp; plans so we know areas that need improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-aris-teal-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3fde442d1caaf9cb3988c099ad13ab21\"><strong>PLD COLLABORATIONS WITH THE HOME, SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The students in the PLD have worked very hard this semester and we want them to maintain this momentum when we resume. During the break, learning can still take place in a\u00a0 fun and relaxed way for our students that will ensure they retain the skills they have acquired in all their subjects.\u00a0 An IB education focuses on making student learning relevant and relatable to their real life\u00a0 so here are some tips to make the holidays a time for them\u00a0to rest but also recharge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cards and Board games: <\/strong>Playing games that involve using dice and a deck of cards can help to improve working memory skills and also\u00a0 their Maths and Language\u00a0 skills. For example, board games\u00a0 like Chess, Ludo, Snake and Ladders and UNO\u00a0 can improve mental Maths skills in addition and subtraction. A game like Scrabble can help to improve language skills and build vocabulary.\u00a0 Playing games like Monopoly can teach money management, critical\u00a0 thinking, turn taking and counting. Using the fingers to move the tiles and throw the dice also helps with building fine motor skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cooking and Baking<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>These are practical applications of fractions and measurements that your child\/ward can use to reinforce their learning in these topics\u00a0 and also see the reality of how measurements, ratios and proportions work in real life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Music and Movement<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>Encourage listening to music while they do tasks they may not be very keen on and also encourage them to dance as they listen\u00a0 to music so they do not get\u00a0 to stay in one position for a major part of their\u00a0 day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Arts and\u00a0 Crafts<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>Knitting or woodworking can help with problem-solving and understanding patterns.
