Dear Parents,
Education is a lifelong process that creates an understanding of moral and ethical values to guide one’s life in the right direction. As a parent, you want the best for your child, and we are proud to work with you to ensure they are equipped to face future challenges. Parents, students, and school are part of a team, and our efforts must complement one another.
In this newsletter, I’d like to emphasise a critical concern that affects our students’ learning.
Attendance: We expect our students to attend school regularly. This Semester, we observed a number of our students are out of school for some reason. Kindly see our attendance policy and scroll down to the follow-up procedure.
The IB program is highly demanding, requiring specific contact hours for every student to progress to the next level. I encourage every parent to support their ward to attend school regularly and punctually.

ACTIVITIES
21st February to 24th February: We celebrated International language Day. The language department organised various learning activities to celebrate diversity and multiculturalism at school.
27th February to 1st March-Black History Month Our Humanities department will work with students to observe Black History Month. You will receive a glimpse of the activities through our communication channel on social media.
3rd March-Glorious Ghana We are happy to announce that we will celebrate Ghana Independence Day by organising an exciting event called “Glorious Ghana”, together with Primary School. Through this event, Our students will experience ART, Culture and Music from various Artists and Artisans from Ghana.
27th Feb to 7th March-Subject Selection Meeting for MYP3 and MYP 5 students This year, we organised a number of meetings with the students and parents separately via Zoom (with the Parents) and face-to-face meetings with students. We will now meet Parents and students with our Program Coordinator and Career Counselor. The schedule for individual Parents meeting is already communicated via email and phone. We are looking forward to meeting you at the meeting.
14th March-Pie Day Math Department and SRC are celebrating this event on March 14 since the date 3/14 resembles the first few digits of the number: 3.14.
15th March-PP Exhibition MYP 5 Students will exhibit the year-long learning journey of their Personal project. This exhibition is one of the critical components to achieving their MYP Certificate. We wish them luck. We will share more details with all MYP 5 Parents closer to the date.
21st March-The Math department is organising a big Financial Literacy Day event. We realised that basic financial planning is critical for students to learn at school. This event aims to teach the students about money, its value, how to save, invest, spend and how not to waste it. You will hear more about this in detail closer to the date.
MOCK & SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS
27th February to 10th March: Mock examinations for Year 11 and Year 13 students. Details are on the Coordinator’s page.
7th to 17th March: Summative assessments for all classes except Years 13 and 11.
29th March: Students led 3 way Conference. Save the date in your calendar.

ARIS CAREERS DAY 2023 (Upper Secondary Students – Years 10 to 13)
As students prepare for their future beyond secondary school, the realization that there are many opportunities and career paths available to them can be daunting. It is, therefore, essential for students to begin learning about different types of career paths and opportunities early on, to plan for a successful future.
Al-Rayan International School recognized this need and organized a Careers Day event for our upper secondary school students on Thursday, February 16th, 2022. The event provided an opportunity for students to interact and engage with professionals in different industries as they navigate their career paths.
Our Careers Day event saw a diverse range of professionals from various industries speaking to our students, sharing their experiences and insights on the different career paths available. The event featured guest speakers, who shared their stories, discussed how they channeled their career paths, and how being open-minded influenced their journey. Guest speakers included:
Dr Ada Nwameme, a public health physician from the University of Ghana for medicine, Mr. Roni Mattouk, Founder and CEO, of ARG Ghana for engineering, Mr. Kofi K. Sarpong, Founder and CEO, of Sarpong Capital for finance, Mrs. Tamara Jonah-Goka, Founder and CEO, Lion Heart Group for hospitality, Dr. Funke Baffour-Awuah, Head of Wellbeing, ARIS for psychology, Ms. Claudette Olympio Founder and Creative Director, Aesthetic Make-up & Beauty for beauty, and Mr. Chadi Fattal Damask, Founder, and CEO, SD Properties for real estate.
The event was a huge success, with students leaving with insightful gems and clarity on the career paths they would love to take. The students appreciated the opportunity to interact with professionals in different fields, ask questions, and gained valuable knowledge about the world of work.
