PRIMARY HIGHLIGHTS (MAR 23)

Welcome to our March Newsletter!

The PYP focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in school and in the world beyond.

The PYP offers a transformative experience for students, teachers and whole school communities and delivers excellent outcomes by providing an education that is engaging, relevant, challenging and significant.

PYP learners know how to take ownership of their learning, collaborating with teachers to deepen understanding and increase their confidence and self-motivation. Through actively engaging in the integrated ongoing assessment they become effective, self-regulated learners who can act on constructive feedback.

Guided by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, students broaden their learning by developing their conceptual understandings, and strengthening their knowledge and skills across, between and beyond subject areas.

How many IB Profiles Traits are there?

Profile of the Month– Communicator

Each month, we choose a different attribute to focus on for the month.

March is all about being a Communicator

The IB Learner Profile aims to develop students who are Communicators. Students who are Communicators understand and express ideas and information confidently and creatively in more than one language and in a variety of modes of communication. They work effectively and willingly in collaboration with others. IB students regularly deliver stimulating presentations and drive excellence in group assignments.

How can parents help develop students who are Communicators at home?

  •  Take turns speaking and listening to one another about your daily events.
  • Explore other forms of communication including symbols, signs, and sounds.
  • Read a variety of texts and find connections between the books and your child’s life.
  • Discuss the TV programs and videos you watch together.
  • Make books, magazines, and other reading material readily available.
  • Take time to listen to your child when he/she talks with you, by turning off technology and providing undivided attention.
  • Ask questions about what they are saying, ask for explanations.
  • Act out stories, plays, poems, and use language in fun creative ways.
  • Support other forms of communication via art, dance, music etc
