PLD Highlights (JAN/FEB 25)

Welcome to 2025 in the PLD Department!

As we begin the New Year we have set new goals for our students that we plan to achieve by the end of the academic session. To set these goals we have actively involved the PLD students in the goal setting process so that they can take  ownership of their learning and track their progress in collaboration with their teachers for the rest of the academic session. The annual PLD Inclusion Week which was scheduled for October last year is now  is coming up in the 1st week of April 2025 after we resume from the Mid Semester break  so watch this space for more details. It promises to be exciting!!

For our students to achieve their goals this semester, they can be supported at home and in school in some of the following ways:

Words of affirmation: Use words of affirmation and teach your child/ward some of these affirmations to use daily. Some examples are ‘You got this’,  ‘I believe in you’, ‘Learning is my journey and I navigate it with courage’,  ‘I will celebrate my successes no matter how small’ . You can also throw in some of these words of affirmation as a colourful ,sticky  note in their lunch boxes so they see it by surprise when they are having break.

Reflections: Create a time in the day for personal reflections. Let your child have a few minutes at the end of the day or when they get back from school to think about their day and reflect on what worked and what did not work in their day. Asking a question like ‘what was the most exciting/boring  thing that happened to you  today?’ will get them to think more reflectively than just asking ‘how was your day?’

Extra-Curricular activities: The list of extra curricular activities for the semester have been shared so encourage your child/ward to participate in at least one activity that they will enjoy even if it is not related to their academics. This will give them something to look forward to every week and can boost their morale and levels of motivate them.
